The Plot Thickens: The Prequel You Didn’t Know You Needed

From a young adventurer to a digital marketing professional, my journey has been a tapestry of diverse experiences and constant adaptation. Growing up in multiple countries and speaking four languages, I developed a unique perspective and strong cross-cultural skills that would later prove invaluable.

My early professional life was as diverse as my upbringing. I worked in the tourism sector in the Netherlands and Spain, where I had the opportunity to explore my passion for writing through blogging and content creation. This experience, combined with freelance work in public relations and event organisation for the likes of The Joan Miró Foundation and Tibet House – like being part of the Dalai Lama’s visit organisation committee in 2007, including heading the organising a concert at the Cathedral Maria del Pi in Barcelona, laid the foundation (without knowing then) for my future in digital marketing.

Despite my creative pursuits, my love for wildlife and nature led me to study conservation biology and later certify as an ecology consultant. This scientific background would later blend seamlessly with my creative skills, mirroring the very essence of digital marketing – a perfect fusion of science and creativity.

Life took another turn when I moved to an island with my young daughter, who, like me before, had lived in different places and had unique experiences. As we settled into island life, I continued working as a freelancer. However, the pandemic brought unexpected challenges, forcing us indoors and compelling me to adapt again.

During this period of global uncertainty, I rediscovered my passion for content writing and digital marketing. Working from home, I immersed myself in courses to enhance my skills, eventually pursuing an MSc in Digital Marketing. This decision was a testament to my belief in the importance of continuous learning and adaptation.

My journey reflects the natural world’s principle of adaptation. As organisms in challenging environments constantly evolve to survive, I’ve learned to thrive by embracing change. Adaptability has been crucial in navigating the ever-evolving digital marketing landscape.

Today, I see my path as a beautiful blend of varied experiences. My scientific background provides analytical thinking, while my creative side fuels innovative content strategies. My multicultural upbringing offers unique insights into diverse markets, and my adaptability ensures I stay ahead in the fast-paced digital world.

I’ve found a field in digital marketing that appreciates and demands diverse skill sets. It’s a realm where creativity meets data, storytelling intersects with strategy, and the ability to adapt and learn continuously is not just an asset but a necessity. My journey from a rover child to a digital marketing professional has enabled me to embrace change, blend diverse skills, and find harmony between science and creativity.
